YPCC is a unique an innovative community school. Students work in learning community in multiage groups.
The facility is based around developing life-long learning skills in a safe and supportive environment.
The student is at the centre of all programs and student voice is evident in student directorate groups where students develop ownership and responsibility for their learning. Older students within the school access pathways to a wider workforce plan where some students have already accessed apprenticeships..These programs provide the opportunity for teachers to team plan for collaborative learning opportunities.
The school and community work together to provide a wide range of opportunities for the students to develop academically, socially and emotionally in engaging ways.
The school provides a range of specialist and curriculum programs in order to support the varied and diverse learning needs of students. The workforce consisting of Princial, Assitant Principal, 4 Leading Teachers, 18 teachers and 20 support staff has been developed to continuously support and improve student outcomes,the school employs a teaching and learning coach to further enhance teaching practices.
The school recognizes the importance of student learning and provides teachers and support staff with a framework and structure based on professional learning teams. These PLT's are collaborative and provide opportunities for staff to develop innovative learning practices to best meet the individual and collective needs of students.
